I was born in Ireland educated in Canada and lived in the USA for over for over 25 years and now reside in Southwestern Ontario, Canada.
Formal education includes:
- BA (Mathematics)
- MA (Psychological Profiling)
- MBA (Marketing)
- PhD (Clinical Psychology)
After graduation I became a Professor of Business Administration at Wilfrid Laurier University, Waterloo, ON, Canada.
I taught undergraduate and graduate courses in: Marketing, Consumer Behavior, The Psychology of Sales, Business Ethics, Statistics, Group Dynamics, The Art of Leadership and various other seminar electives.
My PhD doctoral thesis would ultimately determine my lifelong career. The thesis was titled “Predicting the Potential Performance of Real Estate Salespeople.” It eventually evolved into a psychological profile called RESTPAC and became a major instrument for predicting the potential performance of real estate sales agents.
OREA (Ontario Real Estate Association), made the profile a mandatory licensing requirement for several years. This became my launching pad.
During this re-entry into real estate my entrepreneurial spirit led me to create a real estate franchise, Neighborhood Realty Group (NRG) and then developed it to over 30 offices from Ontario to the Maritime Provinces of Canada.
Several years ago I created a recruiting-based new profile, RealSTAR, which is currently in use in many market dominant companies and franchise systems in the USA and Canada.
My own personal success coupled with the unexpected gift of communicating effectively to audiences on all things related to running a financially successful real estate company thrust me into becoming a popular and often requested speaker. I always want my material to be refreshingly poignant. I consistently attempt to view a problem from as many perspectives as possible which often leads me to be “Out of the Box”. My coaching relationships are based on a set of proven disciplines which were forged in many of my personal life experiences. I have a genuine desire to help others become as successful as they can possibly be. However, I will never compromise what I truly believe to merely satisfy the desire of a client. That would lack integrity and would not serve the good of the client.
I have been favored to be the Keynote speaker for every major Real Estate Franchise in USA and Canada, most large Independent Real Estate Companies and over 45 State and Provincial Conventions. I also was a featured keynote speaker for 10 years in a row at the National Association of REALTORS (NAR) Annual Convention. For over 25 years I travelled the world, mostly N. America, averaging over 120 seminar days a year. I am grateful to be one who can say “I have been there and done that”.
I have spent a lifetime as a motivational psychologist dealing with the impediments of human behavior.
Why do some make it but most don’t?
Why do some implement their training but most don’t?
I have concluded that it is seldom, if ever, because an individual lacks the desire or the need to be successful. Most often it is an imbedded factor of their DNA temperament. Most individuals lack the intensity of the classic Type A and thereby spend most of their lives giving in to following the path of least resistance which only guarantees a life of mediocrity at best. I fought this realization for a long time trying to remake or retool a person’s natural weaknesses and mould them into someone they unfortunately would never become. IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN. Why? We all are suffering from what I am convinced is the Addiction of Avoidance Behavior. We need an intervention!
However, they still want to be successful. Therefore what I am now doing, to some wonderful success. is taking people where they are and providing them with the tools that will accommodate their natural resistance thus enabling them to willingly fulfill the tasks that are essential for their success.
